SOLD Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly REPRINTS 1995 * 4 Magazines * £15 €25 $50 Shipping Included (Australia and New Zealand $55)

These 4 magazines are black and white reprints of the first volumes of SANQ which were issued and sold when the initial copies sold out. While it is not ideal to have reprints, sometimes it is the only way to complete your set of SANQ and these copies are in pristine condition.
These are absolute gems of early sampler history and include articles by Joanne Harvey, a history of Florentine or Irish stitch, plus several fully charted samplers
like Mary Jane Getty's work below.
Volume 2 has articles on Berlin Work, Buttons and Darning Eggs
in addition to this brilliant history of samplers by Beverly Sheppard.
Again, there are more fully charted samplers to stitch
and a delightful small drawn threadwork project to try.
Volume 3 is packed with more history of samplers and needlework tools and has making instructions for the Bride's Purse you see on the cover.
There are some charming samplers to stitch
including this special miniature design
and this rather beautiful example with ample arcaded bands and border.
Volume 4 has an informative article on the care of fine needlework and a history of thimbles.
And again, more wonderful samplers
I especially love this sampler by Janet Smith - it is fabulous!
